My Feature in The New Yorker: The Press-On-Nail Renaissance

Press-on nails

I was recently featured in The New Yorker in their “Goings On” section, where Rachel Syme surveyed the press-on-nail renaissance.

As a nail artist and founder of Rave Nailz, I was thrilled to have my work highlighted in such a prestigious publication.

My Signature Style

The article specifically mentioned my “Rodeo French” style—my kicky spin on a French manicure where the half-moons are saddle brown.

This distinctive design has become one of my signature looks and represents the creative innovation happening in the press-on nail industry today.

The Evolution of Press-On Nails

It’s exciting to see how the industry is evolving. Even longtime drugstore brand Kiss has stepped up its offerings.

The article noted how Olympic gymnast Suni Lee wore their newly released gel French tips when she competed in Paris this summer.

Practical Application

As mentioned in the article, I usually apply my press-ons on the subway—it takes ten minutes, and it’s quite meditative.

With proper application, each set can last up to two weeks, though I keep a tube of nail glue with me in case of any pop-offs.

I like to think that Dolly would approve.
